WATER LEVEL: A high level produces a smoother result.

WASHING LOAD: A slightly less-than-normal load produces a smoother result.

WASHING TEMPERATURE: Cool or warm temperatures, 60ºC up to 85ºC (140º to 185ºF)
Slight shrinkage in warm water.

DETERGENTS: Whiteners in your detergent will alter shades of naturally-colored fibers.

SPIN CYCLE: Normal; remove the cloth immediately to avoid creases. Shorter spin-drying produces smoother results.

PREPARING FOR DRYING: You can influence the end result a lot as well as make ironing easier. Smaller cloths should be given a smart shake while larger cloths can be stretched and shaken.

LINE DRYING: Used for all items and is environmentally friendly. Machine drying will break linen fibers and ruin the cloth. (To avoid creasing the cloth when line drying, thread a plastic tube onto the clothes line. This works well for other clothing as well.) If you plan to iron the cloth, this is best done before cloth is completely dry.

TUMBLE DRYING: All-cotton cloths can withstand machine drying on low. Recommended for the brightly-colored cotton towels/runners produced with Ekelund's Colour weaving technique. There will be some slight shrinkage with tumble drying. (Do not put cloth with linen content in the dryer as this will damage the linen fibers.)

IRONING: Highest temperature/hot iron; iron lengthwise to keep the edges as straight as possible. Dampen the cloth slightly before ironing for best results.

HINTS: When washing placemats and napkins, always wash all of them at the same time with the tablecloth and they will stay a uniform color.

LIGHT RESISTANCE: Ekelund tablecloths have been produced with reactive dyes with a normal resistance to light for textiles used indoors. Not recommended to be used outdoors-extended exposure to sunlight can alter the color.
